Console wars are maybe not over, but it seems like the fights are slowly dying down. We can see that less titles are exclusive to one device only (save Nintendo, but that’s a whole different story). We can play games cross platform and often even sync progress between them. What about Dragon Ball Sparking! ZERO? This series is remembered well by millions of people, and it is getting new fans every year. How does it stand out when it comes to allowing sparrings across the Internet? Is it possible to play it cross platform? Can you play with others using different devices? Let’s find out.

Dragon Ball Sparking Zero – cross platform feature explained

Dragon Ball Sparking Zero is indeed a cross platform title. In the sense of being available on multiple devices like PlayStation, Xbox, or PC. Some would even like to see it released on mobiles, yet many moves like Teleportation, Deflecting Beams, or other tricks are definitely more comfortable to execute using a controller or mouse and keyboard than swiping across the screen on the go.

However, a lot of fans are wondering about different functionality that often gets confused with cross platform – crossplay. This feature allows players to connect with each other regardless of the console they are using. This, sadly, is not possible in Sparking Zero.

Not all is lost, though, as Jun Furutani, who is this game’s producer, mentioned crossplay in one of his interviews conducted by IGN. In it, Furutani admitted that for now his team has encountered difficulties with implementing the possibility to challenge people across the Internet regardless of platform. The fact that the developers are investigating such a possibility means it is not completely out of the question in one of the future patches, yet we shouldn’t get our hopes high, nonetheless.
