To reach the most difficult challenge in PoE 2, you must locate three Citadels first. However, it’s not that simple.

For early access, Path of Exile 2 offers a lot of content. Even when you complete the campaign you still can play on an endgame map and face Pinnacle Bosses. Unfortunately, the construction of this mode causes frustration among players. This is because the Citadels needed for the fight against the final opponent are very difficult to find.

How to find Citadels in PoE 2

When you finish the campaign, you will get access to Cruel mode, which is more or less the same campaign, but more difficult. When you complete this mode, an endgame called Atlas of Worlds will be available. It is an infinite map with many different locations. This is where you will find the most difficult location in the entire game – Burning Monolith – where you encounter the most deadly out of all Pinnacle Bosses.

Unfortunately, to enter the Burning Monolith, you must defeat 3 bosses located in different citadels. Each of them has their own unique design so it's easy to recognize them.

  1. Stone Citadel is located in front of the pyramids.
  2. Copper Citadel is depicted as round, stone wall with tents inside.
  3. Iron Citadel looks like a fortified city with a large building in the middle.

Due to the random nature of the map, finding these locations can be difficult. Additionally, some players believe that they appear only on higher tier maps like T15. Taking into consideration that you are collecting keys to face the most difficult boss, it is quite reasonable assumption. You must look carefully and be lucky. Additionally, if you find the citadel, don’t die in it. If you do so, the map will become inaccessible. So, you will have to look for this place from the beginning.
