Malcolm in the Middle triumphed on television in the early 21st century. The hit sitcom depicted the adventures of a talented teenager trying to survive in his crazy family. The TV series' crew parted ways after six years and seven seasons created.

Some of the cast continued their careers with more or less success, but there were also those who gave up acting, such as Erik Per Sullivan, who played Dewey in Malcolm in the Middle. He last appeared in the film Twelve in 2010.

During an interview with Malcolm France, a YouTube channel dedicated to the sitcom, Jane Kaczmarek, who played Lois in the TV series, decided to talk about what is going on with the Dewey actor. The actress also mentioned that Sullivan has no plans to return to acting.

He’s well, he’s very, very well… He did Malcolm for seven years, he started at seven, he ended at 14. He wasn’t interested in acting, at all. He goes to school at a very prestigious American university that he’s asked us all to be quiet about and he loves Charles Dickens. He’s doing graduate work in Victorian literature. I admire it because so many people think being in show business is the greatest thing in the world, it’s not for everyone.

Sullivan was a child actor who took a completely different path at a later stage. He didn't intend to stay in the industry he started in, and from which he completely disengaged in 2010. As Kaczmarek confessed, he is currently studying Victorian literature and is apparently happy with where he is now and has no plans to return in front of the cameras.
