GTA 4 and Red Dead Redemption Remasters May Have Been Canceled [UPDATED]
Gamers may not be getting the refreshed editions of Grand Theft Auto IV and Red Dead Redemption. Another thing is, does it worry them after the release of a certain trilogy of remasters?
Update
Kotaku's sources have confirmed Tez2's information. An informant with knowledge of Rockstar Games' plans also pointed to the fateful release of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition as the reason for the company's abandonment of new remaster projects.
As we read, the publisher hopes that gamers will simply forget about the debacle while the developer focuses entirely on the new installment of GTA. If the company considers further remasters, it will do so only after the debut of GTA 6.
Kotaku editors have reached out to Rockstar for a comment on these reports, but at the time of publishing this update, the studio has not provided any response.
Original message
Grand Theft Auto IV and Red Dead Redemption may not live to see remasters. That's according to a "reliable source" inside Rockstar Games, cited by the well-known insider Tez2 on Twitter.
Refreshed versions of both games have never been announced by the studio itself. Nevertheless, rumors about them had been making rounds for quite some time. At the end of last year, some fans of GTA were almost certain of the return of the fourth game, as some of the modifications for this installment have been removed from the Internet, as was the case with the original trilogy.
However, Tez2's source says that after several years of consideration, Rockstar Games executives have decided to abandon both planned remasters.
The informant speculates that the developer's decision may have been influenced by the failure of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition. Even now, many months after its release, the quality of this refreshed set is a far cry from the perfect return of the first three installments of GTA that the fans have been dreaming of for years.
As we always emphasize, to treat any unofficial information with caution.
