A new trailer for eFootball was published yesterday. The new production by Konami will replace the previous flagship series of football games - Pro Evolution Soccer. The video shows the fresh mechanics that have been implemented into the game. The developers wanted to emphasize the importance of dribbling and 1-on-1 duels, which are to be even more realistic and engaging.
Konami emphasized that dribbling duels will play an important role in eFootball.
"With more control over how the player will receive the ball, every play becomes a mental duel. A wide variety of moves are available via intuitive commands. When combined, these ensure that every duel is exciting for both attacker and defender."
For PS5 owners, the gameplay will be even more comfortable. thanks to haptic vibrations offered by the DualSense controller, which mimics the player's contact with the ball. eFootball will also deliver smoother player animations through detailed motion capture. Former Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta, among other pros, has been enlisted to help out. The animation and physics of the ball have also been improved.
Another innovation are to be so-called "sharp kicks", which will take the form of faster passes and throws. According to the developers, they will make the game "even more technical and exciting". Constructing the action with a "sharp kick" will take a bit more time, so players will have to carefully choose the right moment to perform it. However, this mechanic will not appear in the game immediately, and will be added with later updates.
The physical aspect of defence and attack is also worth mentioning. The attributes of defenders allow for realistic and effective body positioning and a number of other actions that make it difficult for attackers to launch an effective attack. Once an attacker has lost the ball, they'll have to work hard to get it back.
eFootball will replace Pro Evolution Soccer, which for years has been the main competition for games from the FIFA series. Konami's bargaining chip is to move to F2P model; with this, the developers are certainly hoping to attract new players.
eFootball will debut this fall on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. It will also appear on mobile platforms next year.
