Deluxe Ski Jump 4 With Fan-made Hills in Patch 1.7.0
Deluxe Ski Jump 4 received the update 1.7.0, which added support for the fan-made hills. This is a result of the developer's cooperation with Polish group known as Gorisek Bros.
Deluxe Ski Jump 4, the fourth installment of the popular ski jumping game, has been updated to version 1.7.0. This is the first new release in over three years.
The update introduces only one, but essential novelty - support for fan-made ski jumping hills. They take the form of XML files, so they are created in regular text editors. It is worth mentioning that for a long time it seemed that the creator of Deluxe Ski Jump 4 abandoned the project. This changed when a Polish group of fans, known as Gorisek Bros, discovered a way to create their own maps. They contacted the developer, who turned out to be open to cooperation and the result was update 1.7.0.
Fans from Gorisek Bros. also launched the DSJ4 Hills Database, from which we can already download additional hills. There are already dozens of them available and more are on their way. Extensive documentation was also released, containing information needed to create our own mods of this type.
Gorisek Bros. has ambitious plans for the future. The group is going to work on further hills to recreate all World Cup and Summer Grand Prix facilities. The creators also hope that 1.7.0 will not be the last update of Deluxe Ski Jump 4.
One of the potential directions of development could be to add the fan-made hills to the online mode. Currently the game works in a way that makes it impossible, but Gorisek Bros. doesn't exclude that this will change in the future.
