Mining | Crossroads Keep Neverwinter Nights 2 Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
You can find two miners who might be invited to work for you. The first one is Pentin who you probably saved in Bonegnasher Lair (he's standing in Old Owl Well since then). The second is Calindra, whom you can hire after doing the Bradbury's Disappearance quest (she's waiting for you in Alliance Arms Inn in Port Llast). When you have them both on your side, just inform them about each ore deposit you find throughout your travels. Ore is not easy to find in this game, in fact it's the most difficult "secret" in NWN2. There are 15 ore deposits to be found, and most of them are one-timers: if you miss them, there's no going back to the area they're in. You need the ore to upgrade your unit's weaponry and armor. The former can be upgraded three times, the latter - four times. The number of deposits required for each upgrade varies from one to another, so just ask Edario or Jacoby if they're ready to work whenever you find one of them.
HINT: You must get the miners in Act II, they become unavailable later on.
HINT: After doing some quest in Act III, Pentin will try to leave you. You can try to convince him to stay (threaten him or ask, whatever), or just let him go. It's not very important if you have Calindra.
