What you shouldn't do in Mashinky? | Fast start Mashinky Guide
Last update: 17 October 2017
Below you will find advice that will lead your railroad empire to success. Remember about this information and build your empire wisely, so that you save time, money and lives of passengers. What you shouldn't do in Mashinky, what you shouldn't build and what you should avoid?
- Don't select the largest map for your first game!
- Don't create long connections early in the game!
- Don't use two trains on the same railroad without proper infrastructure!
- Be careful with the order "Ignore next signal" or with destroying rails!
- Don't construct all available upgrades in stations/factories!
Don't select the largest map for your first game!
In theory larger map provides more freedom and cities/factories. However, you can quickly forget about a connection placed on the opposite corner of the map and it might prove to be very token-consuming. On a small map it is easier to control all connections. Additionally, some missions are based on random points on the map, so with a smaller map you will frequently already have infrastructure ready or nearby. This will make it easier to complete such challenges and collect the rewards. You should start the game with default settings.
Don't create long connections early in the game!
Creating long connections will be expensive and the riding time of first trains (even ones with small number of carriages) will be very long. It is better to place two short connections than a single long one. Especially early in the game, when you need green tokens for development. Remember that the distance between the points doesn't impact the profits.
Don't use two trains on the same railroad without proper infrastructure!
Using two trains on a single line will be very helpful later in the game. But at the beginning you should avoid it. Of course, you can place semaphores and additional rails, but you will lose time and nerves to set everything right. It is easier to construct an additional, parallel line than to combine with the semaphores (if despite that you want to create such connection, go to the chapter focused on semaphores and simple connections).
Be careful with the order "Ignore next signal" or with destroying rails!
Of course, usually the train will skip the problematic semaphore, but frequently another train might ride in the same rail. Accidents happen most frequently when you let one train in and immediately move your attention to a different part of the map. The greater the traffic, the greater the chance that a vehicle will ride somewhere it shouldn't be. Same goes for destroying rails when there are many trains on the line. Very frequently trains use new tracks or ride on the green when you recently destroyed a fragment of the tracks. Improvements of the connections should be done when the game is paused or when all trains are stopped.
Don't construct all available upgrades in stations/factories!
This is especially important early in the game. The bonuses might catch your eye, but early in the game it is best to take advantage of what a business/city has to offer. Not all upgrades are needed for you (for example, the increase of station size). Upgrades are very expensive and it is best to place additional structures in crowded stations (larger station, faster unloading), in a big city (waiting room) and in the only factory/plant in the area (additional production possibilities) that are part of large connections.
