During the game, we play as two eponymous characters who try to thwart the plans of the evil god Seth. To this end, they travel through different levels and face problems each in their own way; while Sphinx is an able fighter, Mummy prefers stealth. The game is also enriched by numerous environmental riddles.

The game is based on bloody fights in thematically diversified arenas, but the creators also took care of additional attractions, such as mini-games (chess, puzzles), crypts to visit, or fictionalised campaign mode (conquest).

The gameplay consists on exploring, completing quests, and battling enemies.
