EA Sports WRC is the first officially licensed WRC rally simulator by Codemasters. It's an unofficial sequel to the DiRT Rally series, being just as realistic.

EA Sports WRC (or simply WRC) is an informal sequel to DiRT Rally 2.0 - the game changed its name (and part of its premise) when Codemasters took over the World Rally Championship (WRC) license from Nacon, who stopped releasing their rally simulators after WRC Generations from 2022. This let Electronic Arts add yet another prestigious form of motorsport, alongside Formula 1, to their portfolio.
Gameplay
Since the game was built on the foundations of DiRT Rally, it makes use of its mechanics, such as advanced physics and a large roster of cars from different ages of rallying. According to the creators, it is the most realistic rally simulator they have ever created - though its "dynamic driving system", many different options and assists make it suitable for less experienced players as well.
An important novelty is the designer mode, which lets us design our own car from scratch, choose the body, the engine, customize many different external and internal details, and the color. We can then use our machine to race in WRC, WRC2 and Junior WRC class races.
There are over 18 locations to race at, 200 special stages with the total length of over 600 kilometers, with roads of different kinds. The game features areas from the current WRC season and some past ones.
There are 78 rally cars to choose from - 10 current models with authentic teams, drivers and colors (in Rally1, WRC2 and Junior WRC classes) and 68 other famous vehicles, such as the 1990s kit cars.
Game modes
Aside from singleplayer modes, including the career mode, there's also cross-platform online multiplayer for up to 32 people. The game features tournaments and special challenges recreating current or historical events from real rally races.
Technology
Codemasters have abandoned their Ego technology known from their previous rally simulators - EA Sports WRC instead makes use of the Unreal Engine. According to the developers, this let them create longer, more detailed tracks.
