RPG

November 18, 2012

A third installment in the science fiction series created by BioWare, which is a combination of action RPG with a third-person shooter. The title is the culmination of the epic Mass Effect trilogy, completing the story of Commander Shepard and his war against the Reapers. The action begins as the protagonist is about to be summoned to a hearing concerning the aftermath of his last assignment. Shepard's testimony is interrupted by the very same invasion he desperately fought to prevent. Being the only person possessing both the reputation and the experience of successfully fighting the Reapers, the protagonist starts a race against the clock to unite the forces of the whole galaxy against them. Similarly to Mass Effect 2, we can continue playing with a character that completed the previous entry in the series, retaining all of his or her experience. The gameplay mechanics have avoided major changes, although they did become more dynamic and arcade. The introduction of a multiplayer mode and linking it directly to the story campaign is the game's biggest novelty.

The game's story is not associated with the trilogy about Commander Shepard's fight against the Reapers, offering instead a completely separate plot featuring new characters and locations. Using the proven pattern, the creators of Mass Effect: Andromeda put the focus on a spectacular TPP action experience and moral choices that have a direct impact on the course of events. The technical side of the game is based on the third-generation Frostbite engine, providing high-quality audiovisuals.

October 7, 2016

Another installment in a series of popular RPGs brought by Nintendo and created specifically for Wii U. The player is taken to the Prism island - a place which was once very beautiful but is now losing its colors for unknown reasons. Mario's task is to discover the source of this terrible situation and save the island. The game offers interesting mechanics that distinguish this title from other role-playing games. The player is required to color blank spots in the game world, but to do so, Mario needs to equip a special hammer. Hitting things with it results in colors being restored in the area, characters getting revived and prisoners released. For doing all of this, the player is given golden coins. Interestingly, the player is engaged in coloring even in combat, but instead of coloring parts of the game world, special cards become their targets, representing different kinds of attacks. In terms of visuals, the game combines three-dimensional environments with flat, "paper" characters. Paper Mario: Color Splash is a very colorful game as its very title suggests, resembling in this aspect other games featuring the famous plumber.

Traveling across Umbra takes place on the world map; when the player encounters enemies, a separate tactical map is loaded. Making a good use of the characters' abilities is the key to success in turn-based fights. What's more, the player manages their base - where they can develop the characters, both refill and upgrade their equipment, as well as cultivate a magical garden.

An unusual action RPG developed by French studio Enigami. The title takes place on planet Mahera which is inhabited by members of various species that live in symbiosis. The main protagonist of the game is Chado who together with his friend Poky crashed in a place called Adorn. The protagonists are quickly caught in a bigger intrigue that will determine the fate of the whole world. The gameplay of Shiness: The Lightning Kingdom is based on three pillars: exploration of various locations, fights with enemies and completing main and side quests.
