The Witcher Video Game Series
Wiedźmin
A series of action RPG games inspired by a series of novels and short stories by popular fantasy writer Andrzej Sapkowski. The brand is developed by Warsaw-based development studio CD Projekt RED.
The first game in the series The Witcher was released in 2007 on PC; it was the debut work of the CD Projekt RED studio. The creators' plans also included a console conversion - The Witcher. The Witcher: Return of the White Wolf, but the project was canceled. Players had to wait until 2011 for the sequel. In contrast to the original created with a modified Aurora engine (known, among others, from Neverwinter Nights BioWare studio), the game The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings was created from the beginning based on REDengine proprietary technology. In 2012, the title lived to see a release on the Xbox 360 console.
In 2015, the next installment of the series hit the market - the The Witcher 3: Wild Gon. The story layer of the game was based to a greater extent on the literary original, introducing several key characters into the story, who were omitted from the earlier parts. There were also quite a few innovations and improvements, particularly in the combat system. A large and varied open world with a mass of side activities was also an important novelty. The title was realized on the basis of the new REDengine 3 graphics engine, thanks to which its visual layer still presented a very high level long after its release. The Witcher 3: Wild Gon also lived to see two expanded story additions - back in 2015 the expansion was released Hearts of Stonewhile the following year saw the release of Blood and Wine.
The game turned out to be an international bestseller, recognized by both the community and reviewers. In 2016 The Witcher 3: Wild Gon - having received 251 Game of the Year statuettes - officially became the most awarded production in history. The title overtook the world's biggest brands, such as The Last of Us, Dragon Age or GTA.
The series has also lived to see several side-scrolls. In 2008, a browser-based game was released The Witcher: Versus, in which we fought asynchronous duels with other players, and for the experience and gold earned during the skirmishes we could upgrade our character. In 2014, the following game came to mobile devices and personal computers The Witcher Adventure Game, which is a digital adaptation of the board game set in the world of The Witcher; Ignacy Trzewiczek, the creator of the original, participated in the work on the title. In turn, 2015 saw the release of the game The Witcher Battle Arena, which is an attempt to transfer the Witcher series to the popular MOBA genre. In the production we could participate in short, but extremely dynamic skirmishes of three-person teams composed of characters known from the pages of books by Andrzej Sapkowski.
At the same time, it is worth mentioning the game Gwint: The Witcher card game. It is based on one of the mini-games present in the third part of the basic trilogy, which proved so popular that the developers decided to make it a standalone computer card game. At the same time, care was taken to expand the production, adding new features and a story mode. The title is available in a free-to-play model, with payments related to the single-player campaign.
The main character of the games in the series The Witcher is Geralt of Rivia, well known to fans of Andrzej Sapkowski's prose. However, the plot is not a direct adaptation of the books, but allows you to get to know the new adventures of the titular witcher. Nevertheless, the creators have made an effort to preserve the coherence of the Witcher universe
The adopted gameplay concept is a combination of cRPG and action game elements with a third-person perspective (TPP). Attention is drawn primarily to the spectacular duels with the use of white weapons, as well as the advanced system of Witcher magic. The series won praise from reviewers and gamers due to its gloomy atmosphere, an elaborate storyline aimed rather at mature audiences and the need to make difficult moral choices, which largely shape further gameplay and can bring unexpected consequences. The third installment of the trilogy additionally won praise for its thoughtful and elaborate design of side quests.
Among the greatest strengths of the series The Witcher also includes the impressive audiovisual setting. This is especially true of productions based on the RED Engine. Aesthetic impressions are complemented by cut-scenes created in cooperation with Tomasz Baginski (author of the famous animation Cathedral) and the Platige Image studio.
In 2016, CD Projekt reported that more than 20 million copies of all parts of the trilogy had been sold worldwide, more than half of which were for Dziki Gon.

November 27, 2014
A digital adaptation of the board game set in the universe of The Witcher, created by Andrzej Sapkowski. Both the digital version in question and the physical original were developed by CD Projekt RED, the developers of the bestselling RPG series, in cooperation with Ignacy Trzewiczek, the CEO of Portal Games, a Polish table-top role-playing game publisher. The gameplay is designed for between 2 and 4 people to play on a single machine or via the Internet. The players assume the role of one of four characters: Geralt, Triss Merigold, Dandelion, or Yarpen Zigrin. In the game, we hunt monsters, solve puzzles, and take on other lucrative jobs. The course of events depends on the cards drawn from a special adventure deck, ensuring that every game is unique. The graphics recreate the visual style of the original and enhance it with additional digital animations.

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings
RPG
May 17, 2011
An action RPG game and the second chapter of the adventures of Geralt of Rivia. Similarly to its predecessor from 2007, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings was developed by CD Projekt RED. The game follows the foiled plot to assassinate King Foltest. With the appearance of a mysterious man called Kingslayer the titular witcher becomes entangled in a complicated political intrigue, in which the fate of several kingdoms will be decided. The developers tried to faithfully recreate the world known from the literary works of Andrzej Sapkowski while enriching it with new elements. Great emphasis was put on moral choices leading to one of 16 possible endings, and on the completely rebuilt, dynamic combat system. The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is distinguished by excellent visuals powered by the developer’s proprietary REDengine.

The latter encompasses mainly an upgraded equipment menu. In terms of content, two separate new adventures were added, as well as the D'Jinni editor that allows us to create our own modifications.
