CD Projekt believes that the trend for singleplayer games like The Witcher and Cyberpunk will never die out

Swen Vincke is not the only one who believes in the power of single-player games. CD Projekt, too, has no intention of giving them up and believes they will enjoy enduring popularity.

Recently, the head of Larian Studios, Swen Vincke, shared his honest opinion about single-player games. He stated bluntly that they are not dead, they just have to be good to achieve success. CD Projekt group holds the same view, believing they will maintain immense popularity among players, even with shifting trends.

This information was included in the company's latest report, summarizing its activities in 2024. There, we will find a message written by Michal Nowakowski, a member of the group's board, in which one of the paragraphs reads:

We are aware that the video game market continues to evolve – however, we believe that cutting-edge single-player games rooted in strong franchises and immersive narratives will continue to enjoy great popularity. Our experience, along with brands such as The Witcher and Cyberpunk, which it is our pleasure to further develop, help us build a strong position on the market and paint a positive outlook – while collaboration with global tech and innovation leaders enables us to keep abreast of technical developments in the industry and continue to deliver top-quality entertainment.

Such words shouldn't be a surprise, as CD Projekt is strongly associated with single-player games. Although it has tried to experiment with multiplayer titles, it has not achieved significant success in this field. It seems that nothing will change in this regard anytime soon, and we can be confident that the group won't suddenly begin investing large sums of money into service games.

By the way, CD Projekt isn't lacking, as in 2024 the group achieved the "third highest profit" in history, and consolidated revenues reached almost a billion PLN.

Currently, the company is working on the mysterious Project Hadar, a continuation of Cyberpunk 2077, which will soon enter the pre-production phase, and The Witcher 4, which is not expected to release until 2027. A collaboration with the American mobile gaming giant was also announced, but we still don't know exactly what will come out of it.
