Plot
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition takes us on a journey to a fantastical universe, more specifically to the province of Skyrim located in the Tamriel Empire. After 201 years since the events of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, a new threat hangs over the continent in the form of dragons led by Alduin - the World Eater. Fortunately, in time it turns out that the hero we play is a so-called Dovahkiin who speaks the language of reptilian beasts. As it is not difficult to guess, only he can face the threat.
This is not the end of adventures that await us in this game. In Dawnguard expansion we have to stop a vampire lord named Harkon (or become a ruler of vampires ourselves), and in Dragonborn we find ourselves on the island of Solstheim in Morrowind, known from The Elder Scrolls III: Bloodmoon, where we have to face the first Dovahkiin.
Mechanics
Gameplay in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition starts with character creation. At the start we decide on the gender, race and appearance of the hero. The game offers a classless system, so as you progress you develop individual hero attributes (health, stamina and magic) and skills without looking at his profession. Thanks to this nothing stands in the way of leading the hero into battle who can wield a sword very well, who, if necessary, will be able to cast a healing spell on himself or sneak behind the back of enemies. In addition, our character can be developed by getting better equipment (or crafting it yourself) or by improving the equipment we already have.
The game gives us a vast open world to explore on foot or on horseback. The fast travel function was also implemented here. The province of Skyrim offers not only frozen wastelands that bring to mind Scandinavia, but also towns and smaller settlements, as well as various dungeons, ruins and fortresses. Wandering through this vast "sandbox", we perform tasks pushing the plot forward and deal with countless missions and side activities. The game world also features guilds, the ranks of which we climb as we complete new quests.
Skyrim is full of enemies, which we face with the help of white and ranged weapons or by using various spells. Combat system is arcade, but requires a bit of tactical thinking. We have to block the attacks of enemies and perform evasions, as well as skilfully use the ability to parry. Of course, dragons lead the way among adversaries. After defeating a winged beast Dovahkiin absorbs its soul, which after finding the ancient words can be used to unlock one of the powerful powers called Shouts. These allow him to knock back enemies, slow down time or even clear the overcast sky.
Hearthfire expansion adds the ability to buy land, build your own home and furnish it as you see fit. Fan-made modifications from the Creation Club introduce additional quests, dungeons and enemies, as well as new equipment and spells.
