Skyrim Mods Earn Millions in a Month

Despite The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition being old at this point, mods for the game are currently enjoying record-breaking popularity, achieving impressive popularity results.

PCGamesN has prepared an interesting analysis showing the incredible growth in popularity of modifications for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition. Despite the fact that almost six years have passed since the release of the game, mods for it are currently enjoying record success.

  1. In January of this year, players downloaded 113 million mods for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition on NexusMods, the most important website with mods for the game. Last month's result was a little lower - slightly short of 90 million - but still an insanely impressive number.
  2. Most impressive is the fact that the results have steadily increased since the game's release in October 2017. In November of that year, only 10 million mods were downloaded for Skyrim Special Edition.
  3. The number of released mods is also growing. At the end of last year, an average of 50 new files were published for Skyrim Special Edition each day (this number consists of both new mods and updates to older projects).
  4. Currently, there are more than 60,000 modifications available on Nexus, which have been downloaded a total of more than 2.2 billion times.

It is clear that despite its age The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition is currently experiencing a golden period in terms of mods. They are, by the way, one of the reasons why the game is still very popular - yesterday on Steam, at the hottest moment of the day, the game was played by 23 thousand concurrent users, which is a result that most launches can dream of.

Instead, the popularity of mods for the original The Elder Scrolls V has been declining in recent years. This, however, is not surprising - both the majority of modders and players long ago switched to the Special Edition.
