Sonic Video Game Series
A best-selling series of platformers featuring a blue hedgehog capable of supersonic speeds in the title role. The series is developed by the SEGA corporation with the support of the internal Sonic Team studio and external developers.
The father of the series Sonic is Yuji Naka, a Japanese video game designer who has been associated with SEGA for more than 30 years. The first installment of the series - Sonic the Hedgehog - debuted in 1991 on the Sega MegaDrive console, very quickly gaining the status of one of the platform's biggest hits (its sales reached more than 15 million copies). Subsequent parts of the adventures did not repeat this commercial success, although sales of each of them were at least satisfactory. Until 2001, the series was exclusively associated with consoles manufactured by SEGA (Mega Drive and Dreamcast) and personal computers. The breakthrough came in 2001, with the release of the game Sonic Adventure 2 Battle for the Nintendo GameCube and Sonic Advance on the Game Boy Advance handheld. Over time, Sonic made his way to all popular platforms - from the next Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo consoles to mobile devices.
In almost all games of the series, the main character is a blue hedgehog - the titular Sonic, and his task is most often to thwart the plans of the devious Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik, trying to obtain powerful chaos crystals and take over the world. The main character is helped by his friends, such as Tails the fox and Knuckles the spiky dog.
Most games in the series Sonic are 2D or 3D arcade platformers. Nevertheless, in addition to the main parts, over the years the series has lived to see a number of spin-offs, including some that represented other genres (like racing games) and even crossovers with other brands, led by Mario & Sonic.
In the main installments of the series Sonic we speed through levels riddled with traps, terrain obstacles and platforms, and collect golden rings. Although we mostly have to deal with linear stages, the game released in 2022 Sonic Frontiers introduced a revolution in the form of open-ended locations. Depending on which character we play, we can make use of their individual abilities (for example, the title character can run at tremendous speed), making it easier to reach hard-to-reach places or defeat enemies.
Cycle Sonic is distinguished by attractive audiovisual design. The developers usually go for very intense colors, which blend well with the dynamic gameplay. The game is accompanied by background music by artists such as Masato Nakamura, Yuzo Koshiro and Richard Jacques.
According to SEGA's calculations, by the end of 2011 sales of all games starring Sonik exceeded 85 million copies. The popularity of the brand is also evidenced by animated series created under its license (e.g. Sonic Underground i Sonic X), comic books and film adaptations - Sonic. Sonic. Fast as lightning i Sonic 2: Fast as Lightning.

Once again, you play as the eponymous super-fast hedgehog, and your task is to lead the resistance and face the evil Doctor Eggman and his army of giant robots. Sonic Forces utilizes the third person perspective. Like in the previous games of the franchise, you traverse the maps full of obstacles and enemies, and collect golden rings. The biggest attraction of the game is undoubtedly the most characteristic feature of the brand - the speed. The protagonist moves so fast that sometimes you may not be able to discern what is happening on screen. The game also features an option to summon alternative versions of Sonic and to control several of them at once — it is the only way to deal with challenges, which are too much for just one Sonic.

For most of the time, action is presented in third-person perspective, however, the game features also also some classic 2D levels. Each location is filled with traps and opponents, but also various power-ups that can boost your score or protect you from damage.

The presence of ice and fire elements is a novelty – proper usage of them is required to get past some of the obstacles. In Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice, the heroes from the television series must face a new enemy, known as D-Fekt, as well as and their old adversary Dr. Eggman. Five characters are playable in the game: Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Sticks and unavailable in previous game Amy. In addition to the single player mode, the developers also added multiplayer modes such as Bot Racing.
Sonic Runners
Arcade
June 27, 2016
A mobile game and a part of one of the most popular franchises in history. The production is a blend of a platformer and a typical runner game, set in the universe of Sonic the Hedgehog. You can not only play as the main character, but also as his friends, including Tails the Fox and Knuckles. The levels, called “episodes” in-game, are endless, although you can progress to the next one after earning a certain amount of points. Every character has a special ability, which helps them overcome obstacles (e.g. Sonic can triple-jump and Knuckles is super-strong, which makes him hit harder). The game features nicely designed maps full of platforms, enemies, and obstacles, making it more difficult to break records. You can find many collectibles and fight various bosses. The characters can be upgraded (they have three statistics: speed, strength, and acrobatics) and unlocked. The game's beautiful 2.5D was inspired by classic 8-bit and 16-bit console productions. The game was withdrawn from distribution due to a too aggressive business model.
Sonic Dash 2: Sonic Boom

The player's goal here is to cover as long a part of the route as possible. One encounters different obstacles and enemies, but the in-game store allows the player to buy new characters, upgrades or power-ups, which boost the capabilities of the heroes. Sonic Dash 2: Sonic Boom comes with high-quality 3D visuals; the game is a free-to-play title which uses microtransactions.
