Players take on the role of a cadet from the Academy of Command of Clingo and, under the watchful eye of General Kang, have the opportunity to learn how to control combat vehicles, tactics and the principles of the warriors' code of honour. The plot of the game is a prequel to the events presented in Star Trek: Undiscovered Country.

Players have the opportunity to sit at the helm of civilian planes, traversing the skies of New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles, among others. Compared to the original, the creators decided to implement the Roger Wilco voice communication system and the SKY engine! Environment Exciter, responsible for modelling the effects of the sun, clouds and weather.
