The authors introduced a detailed map of the area above and around the city of Chicago and made it possible to pass a virtual test for the FAA pilot license. There were also new planes.

One of the most interesting additions to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000, produced by Abacus, a company specializing in this type of extensions. Private Pilot allows players to pilot various types of avionets, some even so luxurious that even real pilots dream of them.
- Thirteen types of the most popular small passenger aircrafts, i.e., the "Airbus", the "Airbus", the "Airbus" and the "Airbus": AeroStar 700, Beech V-35, Beech Baron 58, Cessna 150 w/floats, Cessna 152, Cessna 172, Cessna 310, Diamond Katana, Glassair III, Mooney Ovation, Pilatus PC-12, Piper Malibu and Piper Saratoga II.
- Individual selection lists for each aircraft.
- Learning basic manoeuvres, acrobatics and so on.
- Detailed map of the Chicago area.
- Example of the FAA pilot license test.
