Pro Cycling Manager / Tour de France Video Game Series
A series of elaborate management simulations dedicated to professional cycling. The brand was created and developed by the French development studio Cyanide, based on the official license of the International Cycling Union (UCI).
The series debuted in 2001 with the game Cycling Manager released for PC. It was also the first sports manager presenting the reality of the professional peloton. The production was very well received among players who were cycling enthusiasts. This encouraged the developers from Cyanide to develop the idea into a series. Subsequent unveilings of the series confirmed the potential of the brand. In 2005, the name of the series was supplemented with the word "Pro" to emphasize the connection with the UCI Pro Tour races. A significant event in the history of the series was the release of the game Pro Cycling Manager: Tour De France 2007, which was also the first to release a console version (in this case, the pocket-sized PlayStation Portable).
The gameplay in all games in the series Pro Cycling Manager is based on a similar scheme. The player assumes the role of sports director of one of the protour cycling teams. His duties include acquiring valuable riders, negotiating contracts, imposing training regimes and determining the lineup for individual races. An important part of the game is to follow the competition on stages and give instructions to the riders.
Among the strengths of the games in the series Pro Cycling Manager include an extensive database containing information about teams and riders, updated every year. Each rider is also described with a set of indicators defining his predispositions and abilities.
Compared to other sports management simulations, the series Pro Cycling Manager is distinguished from the very beginning by its high-quality audiovisual design. Developers from Cyanide usually make sure that in the virtual peloton you can easily recognize the silhouettes of cycling stars, and the routes of races coincide with the real counterparts.

In the console version of Pro Cycling Manager, the players assume the role of a chosen cyclist who belongs to one of 22 official clubs. Our goal is, of course, achieve as many successes as possible which is no small task since we have to face other world-famous teams. Compared to their predecessors, both versions of the game boast improved artificial intelligence and physics. Moreover, apart from an extensive career mode, they offer multiplayer modules that allow us to compete against and cooperate with other players from all over the world.

Pro Cycling Manager 2016 for PC is a typical manager game, which does not give direct control over bikers to the player. Rather, the player's task here is to lead their team to success through managing different aspects of running a cycling team. On the other hand, Tour de France 2016 for consoles is a typical arcade game that casts the player in the role of a single cyclist. Applying different tactics on the road, the player competes against others in order to win the yellow shirt of the leader. As usual, this installment uses all the necessary licenses - the player observes virtual representations of real cyclists and their teams, as well as faithfully recreated tracks. Apart from the titular Tour de France, the game offers a variety of other popular cycling events.

During its course, we take part in over 200 races, consisting of 550 stages, with the final objective to win the prestigious Tour de France. Our duties include scouting, finding sponsors, negotiating contracts, taking care of the team’s budget, training, as well as leading the riders themselves during races, where every decision can influence their placement on the finish line.
