Tour de France 2017

Pro Cycling Manager 2017 for PC, PS4 and XONE is another installment of cycling management series published by Focus Home Interactive. It was developed by Cyanide Studio, known not only for this franchise but also for such productions as Blood Bowl II and Styx: Shards of Darkness.

Mechanics

The gameplay mechanics known from the game’s predecessors haven’t been changed drastically in Pro Cycling Manager 2017. We play as a professional cycling club’s manager who obviously has to make sure that their club wins as much as possible. It is no small task, though, since we have to face other world-famous teams during over 200 tournaments (including La Vuelta i Tour de France) divided into 500 stages.

As usual for a sports management game, we do not control the sportsmen directly. Instead, our responsibilities include a number of different things. The most basic one is hiring people that will help us manage the team. A good club has to consist not only of great training staff but also brilliant sportsmen. We can obtain the latter thanks to talent hunters who look for young and talented cyclists. When we find these, we have to negotiate a contract. Of course, we need money for all these things. We receive them from sponsors. Training sessions are also important. The game lets us carefully plan and set the intensity for every cyclist.

All of the above leads to tournaments. Pro Cycling Manager 2017 allows us to adopt a proper tactic before a race and to make important decisions in the course of it. Moreover, for the first time in history of the series, we can manage the squad cycling in a single line to “protect” the key team members and save them for the crucial parts of the route.

Physics were also improved. Thanks to better calculations regarding cycling uphill and downhill, the sportsmen fatigue is more realistic than ever before.

Game modes

Pro Cycling Manager 2017 for PC, PS4 and XONE offers not only an extensive campaign but also a multiplayer mode and a few social features. The players can form clans, organize their own tournaments, talk on the chat, and compare scores.
