2XKO Description
2XKO, originally known under the codename Project L, is a fighting game that is a spin-off of League of Legends, set in the fantasy land of Runeterra. The game is the result of a collaboration between Riot Games, the company overseeing the brand, and Radiant Entertainment studio, which was acquired by the former in 2016.
The product is distributed in a free-to-play model with microtransactions. Radiant Entertainment has a project from a similar genre and gameplay style in its portfolio - it's the ultimately unreleased Rising Thunder.
Mechanics
In 2XKO we watch the action from the side. The core of the game are arena battles in which two 2-person teams take part. We take control of a single character at a given moment, but there is nothing stopping us from switching to his or her companion at any time. Thanks to this, we have a much wider range of moves on the battlefield. An attack initiated by one player can be finished in the skin of another.
The game gives us a number of characters, including heroes well known to fans of League of Legends. They are differentiated in terms of preferred weaponry and fighting style. For example, Darius wields an axe and specializes in mid-range combat, Ekko is armed with a sword and is much more mobile, Ahri makes use of combat magic, and Yasuo is an agile fencer capable of controlling the wind.
Game modes
In 2XKO we can play solo or in multiplayer mode (via the Internet or on a shared screen). The game uses Rollback Netcode technology and also Riot Direct proprietary solution, already successfully implemented in League of Legends and Valorant. All of this is meant to ensure its responsiveness and effectively reduce lag during online play.
Technical aspects
The graphic design of 2XKO was made in 2.5D technique and is maintained in a colorful, cartoonish style.
