Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3
Strategy
October 28, 2008
After the success achieved by the third installment in the Command & Conquer series, EA Los Angeles began to work on a sequel to the Red Alert subseries developed in parallel with the franchise's main installments. Again, the players are thrown into an alternative reality, where the leaders of the Soviet Union decided to travel back in time in order to make Russia great again. However, apart from the Allied Forces, standing in their way this time is a new superpower established in the eastern part of the globe - the Empire of the Rising Sun. Each of the three entities involved in the conflict received its own story campaign consisting of 9 missions. Importantly, the campaigns can be played both in the singleplayer and co-op modes. Depending on the faction chosen, the player takes control of different, but also unusual, combat units falling into three categories: ground, air and naval ones. Among them, the player will find floating islands, transformable tanks or armed animals, such as dolphins or bears for example. Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 once again utilizes the SAGE engine, providing the players with high-quality visuals.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Soulstorm
Strategy
March 4, 2008
Another stand-alone expansion for the real-time strategy Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War that was released in 2004. The Soulstorm expansion adds one new story campaign for the game. It encompasses the the entire Kaurava system that consists of four planets and three moons. A conflict between nine factions starts in that area. They all intend to examine the eponymous anomaly. The expansion adds two previously unavailable factions. The first one are the Dark Eldar, corrupt pirates and slavers. The second are the Sisters of Battle who are absolutely loyal to the Emperor. In addition to that, each side of the conflict received new units (including, for the first time in the series, aerial vehicles). Multiplayer was improved as well. Now it has new maps and a reward system based on achievements.

Warhammer: Mark of Chaos
Strategy
November 14, 2006
A fantasy real-time tactics game by Black Hole Games, and a part of the Warhammer universe created by Games Workshop. Its main element is a complex story campaign centered on the war with the Hordes of Chaos, shown from four different points of view, those of the four sides of the conflict: the Empire, the High Elves, the Hordes themselves, and the rat-like Skaven. Warhammer: Mark of Chaos is focused exclusively on combat, leaving out the economical aspects (such as gathering resources or developing your base) typical for the genre. Instead of that, you are completely free to decide on the make-up of your army by choosing your soldiers of various races (e.g. orcs, goblins, vampires or dwarves) and customizing their appearance, equipment and behavior during battle. Apart from the singleplayer mode, the game also features four diverse multiplayer modes.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War
Strategy
September 20, 2004
A real-time strategy which takes place in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. The game was released as a result of cooperation between the publisher THQ and Relic Entertainment, the studio known for Homeworld, among other games. The story of Dawn of War focuses on one of the many conflicts in the world of Warhammer. It focuses on Gabriel Angelos – the leader of Blood Ravens chapter of the Space Marines - who tries to stop an Ork invasion on his planet. Similarly as in the majority of real-time strategies, the essence of the game is leading troops during combat. Thanks to the unique setting and various futuristic weapons, the battles are spectacular and very brutal. The game lacks the typical resource gathering element, usually used for improving the base. Instead, the resource system was based on conquering and controlling key locations. The way how units look is worth mentioning – they are based on authentic figurines created by Games Workshop.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Dark Crusade
Strategy
October 9, 2006
A stand-alone expansion for the strategy game Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War developed by Relic Entertainment. The basic novelty introduced in Dark Crusade expansion are the two new factions. The first one are the humanoid robots known as Necron. They are a faction of undead killing machines. The second new faction is the Tau Empire. They are technologically advanced and have remarkable skills in diplomacy. The game takes place on a desert planet named Kronus, which sparks also the interest of other factions known from previous installments of the series (there are seven factions in total). In the campaign mode the player must conquer 25 provinces of the planet. The developers decided not to create a typical, lineal story (except for a few key moments), instead giving the players complete freedom in conquering the whole area. A modified character development system is one of the novelties introduced by the expansion – the faction leader can buy better equipment and skills with special points obtained during the game.

Thousand years ago the planet was “eaten” by the Warp storm and now it returned bearing the legions of Chaos. During the game the player leads the space marines of the Blood Ravens chapter who must not only face their former brothers, but find a traitor among themselves as well.
