Darkest Dungeon Video Game Series

O Darkest Dungeon was first heard of in 2014. The crowdfunding campaign organized by the creators was a great success on the Kickstarter platform; the developers managed to raise more than twice the amount they had asked the backers for. The title went into Early Access on the Steam platform in January 2015 and quickly won a sizable fan base. Its full version debuted on PC a year later, and in time it also appeared on other platforms. The production was commercially and artistically successful, thanks to which a comprehensive add-on appeared in June 2017 -. Darkest Dungeon: The Crimson Court, a year later it was followed by a second major DLC - Darkest Dungeon: The Color of Madness, in turn, less than two years later, the list of add-ons closed with Darkest Dungeon: The Butcher's Circus. In the meantime, two smaller add-ons saw the light of day, namely. The Shieldbreaker and The Musketeer.

In February 2019, Red Hook Studios officially announced Darkest Dungeon 2. In October 2021, it hit early access on the Epic Games Store platform. The production was a quick success, getting into the hands of more than 100,000 players in less than 48 hours after its debut in early access.

The series also lived to see its board adaptation, which was funded on the Kickstarter platform. The crowdfunding campaign for this project even surpassed the result achieved by the original, as the creators managed to raise... eighteen times the expected amount. Unfortunately, it was not without controversy, because in the last straight before its debut, the company responsible for it, Mythic Games, demanded a surcharge from players with pre-orders, explaining the drastic increase in production and shipping costs.
