Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered for PC, PS4 and XONE is a visually enhanced edition of 2007's Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare – a critically acclaimed shooter game, which sold in over 15 million copies during several years. Furthermore, the source game is also considered one of the most important first person shooters in the history of gaming. The remastered edition was developed by the creators of the original Modern Warfare - Infinity Ward, with support of Raven Software, a developer popular mainly for Singularity and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered serves the role of an addition in special editions of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare - this applies to the Legacy, Digital Legacy, Digital Deluxe and Legacy Pro editions.
Plot
In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered for PC, PS4 and XONE, the player participates in a fictitious military conflict at the turn of the twenty-first century. Terrorists have brought the world to its knees, but the truth is, an extreme Russian nationalist called Zachaev is at the bottom of this. Using confusion to his advantage, he tries to cover up his trial to take control over his native country. Particular missions cast the player in roles of different soldiers (among them John "Soap" MacTavish from SAS, or capitan John Prince) assigned with missions taking place all around the globe.
Mechanics
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered for PC, PS4 and XONE is a spectacular, first person shooter. The remastered edition does not bring any changes to the gameplay formula of the source game, thus during subsequent missions, the player is taken onboard a ship for example; they complete the classic, stealth-action assignment or shoot at the enemy from the deck of the AC-130 aircraft. Particular levels are linear, in-game events are governed by scripts and a fast pace is maintained by respawning enemies.
Game modes
Apart from the story campaign, the game features a multiplayer experience. The latter corresponds to what the original product had to offer, but visual enhancements were applied only to ten most popular multiplayer maps, such as Crash, Backlot or Crossfire.
Technical aspects
While the remastered edition does not bring any changes to the mechanics, it is practically a completely new product in terms of the visuals. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered for PC, PS4 and XONE comes with higher-quality textures, new animations, improved lighting and shading. What is also worth mentioning, is that in-game sounds were improved as well.
