Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II - Retribution
Strategy 01 March 2011
The second standalone expansion for the 2009’s real-time strategy game, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II. The action of Retribution takes place 10 years after the events of Chaos Rising. Despite the defeat of the Black Legion and the demon Ulkair, the fighting hasn’t stopped and the planet Aurelia remains a battlefield for many conflicts between feuding factions of mutually exclusive interests. When the Empire loses its patience and prepares to annihilate all life on Aurelia, the only hope to persuade the Inquisition is to stop the Chaos-corrupted Grand Master Kyras. New story campaigns allow us to assume control of all factions that were available thus far as well as the Imperial Guard. The expansion also introduces several changes to the gameplay mechanics, such as character abilities, powerful AoE attacks, and the possibility of gathering resources and then using them to train units and construct vehicles.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II - Chaos Rising
Strategy 11 March 2010
A standalone expansion pack for the second installment of the RTS that takes place in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. The game was developed by Relic Entertainment. As the title suggests, Dawn of War II: Chaos Rising concentrates on the faction of the Chaos space marines. The game takes place on the ice-covered planet Aurelia. Thousand years ago the planet was “eaten” by the Warp storm and now it returned bearing the legions of Chaos. During the game the player leads the space marines of the Blood Ravens chapter who must not only face their former brothers, but find a traitor among themselves as well. The biggest change in game mechanics was adding an individual morality meter for each unit. The meter is influenced by corruption and redemption points achieved with the decisions made by the player. Chaos Rising adds a few multiplayer features such as new units for each faction and previously unavailable maps and modes.
