ARK: Extinction
Action 13 November 2018
Extinction is the third big expansion to ARK: Survival, which is a survival game focused on online gameplay. DLC takes us to Earth, where we can explore the ruins of human civilization and fight gigantic beasts known as Titans. There were also new species of dinosaurs and previously inaccessible objects.
ARK: Aberration
Action 12 December 2017
ARK: Aberration is a non-standalone expansion for ARK: Survival Evolved, developed by Studio Wildcard. The basics of the gameplay remained the same, blending a multiplayer action game with sandbox and survival elements. Instead of introducing revolutionary mechanics, the expansion focuses on new content. ARK: Aberration allows you to visit a new ark with irradiated areas and expansive underground sections. It is inhabited by mutant animals and a humanoid monster race known as the Nameless. The DLC also features many new items, adding e.g. climbing equipment, wingsuits, zip-lines, and previously unavailable crafting and building resources. There are also new challenges to complete, as well as new threats, such as earthquakes, gas leaks, or radioactive zones.
ARK: Scorched Earth
Action 01 September 2016
The first big expansion for the survival-oriented action game ARK: Survival Evolved. The developer of the base title, Studio Wildcard, once again takes the players on a journey to a completely new world. The players are taken to varied, sun-burnt locations such as sand dunes, mountain tops, canyons, no man’s land, oasis, or finally, deserts. Each of the locations has an distinctive ecosystem, while the traveling around the world is expedited by the ability to create caravans, or even fly on a wyvern’s back. The add-on expands the crafting system, incorporating the ability to craft boomerangs, or even chainsaws, as well as items necessary for survival in inhospitable areas, including tents and wells. ARK: Scorched Earth introduces new dangers such as sand storms, while too much exposure to sun may result in a stroke. The expansion requires the base game to function – but thanks to that, the players can transfer the new content – domesticated animals, equipment and buildings – to ARK: Survival Evolved playthroughs.
