ARK: Aberration

ARK: Aberration for PC, XONE and PS4 is an expansion for the online action game ARK: Survival Evolved. The DLC is not standalone, which means it requires the core game to run. Both productions were developed by Wildcard.

Mechanics

The expansion allows you to visit an abandoned derelict ark with expansive underground sections. The damage done to the systems resulted in the place being irradiated, which caused the local fauna to mutate and develop many strange characteristics. You can encounter e.g. a glowing pug, which can act as a lantern.

There is also the threat of humanoid monsters called the Nameless. The bravest players may try to capture and train their queen, which allows you to infect your enemies with larvae that burst out of their hosts' chests upon reaching maturity.

Aberration also allows you to create over fifty new objects, such as climbing equipment, wing suits, zip-lines, batteries, exploding bullets, electromagnetic cannons, and anti-radiation suits. There are also new resources and shelter build elements.

Moreover, the DLC features many new challenges and threats, such as earthquakes, gas leaks or radioactive zones. The biggest problem, however, are the Nameless, whose queen lurks in the darkest depths of the ark, which only the most stubborn players can reach.
