Game Rant: 4.5 / 5 by Dalton Cooper
Boasting top of the line graphics and an impressive open world, Forza Horizon 4 is an excellent racing game that is a must-have for Xbox One owners and fans of the genre.
GamesBeat: 95 / 100 by Jeff Grubb
When a game series is this good for this long, you can sometimes find yourself taking it for granted. Forza Horizon 4 once again refines its formula in a number of notable ways. But those improvements are getting diminishing returns. This is the best Forza Horizon game, and that makes it one of the best racing games ever. But that just doesn't wow me like it once did.
The main pros of the game
- Graphics and Visuals: The game features stunning graphics and attention to detail, with beautiful recreations of Great Britain's landscapes and dynamic seasons that enhance the visual experience.
- Gameplay Experience: Players appreciate the balance between arcade and simulation, making it accessible for both casual and hardcore racing fans. The driving mechanics are smooth, and the game is described as fun and relaxing.
- Car Selection and Customization: Forza Horizon 4 offers a vast selection of over 400 cars, with detailed customization options that allow players to tailor their vehicles to their preferences.
- Multiplayer and Community Events: The online multiplayer aspect is engaging, with plenty of community events and challenges that keep the gameplay fresh and social.
- Diverse Content: The game includes various events, challenges, and DLCs, providing extensive content that can keep players entertained for many hours.
The main cons of the game
- Technical Issues: Some players report compatibility problems with certain hardware, particularly steering wheels, and frequent crashes during gameplay.
- Repetitive Elements: A few users mentioned that the gameplay can become repetitive over time, especially with the unskippable cutscenes and dialogue that interrupt the racing experience.
- Online Experience: While the multiplayer aspect is generally enjoyed, some players have noted issues with matchmaking and waiting times for races, especially as the player base has dwindled since the release of Forza Horizon 5.
The features or elements that are missing from the game according to users
- Better Wheel Support: Users have expressed a desire for improved compatibility and support for various steering wheels, as some have difficulty mapping controls or experience issues with force feedback.
- Cross-Progression: Players lament the lack of cross-progression between versions of the game, which means that progress cannot be carried over from the Xbox to the PC version.
- More Engaging Race Tracks: Some reviews suggest that the race tracks could be more interesting and varied, as well as a desire for more unique events rather than repetitive ones.
- Improved Sound Design: A few players feel that the audio, particularly the engine sounds, could be more varied and realistic.
Summary
- Overall, Forza Horizon 4 is praised for its stunning graphics, engaging gameplay, and extensive content, but it does have some technical issues and areas where players feel improvements could be made.

Forza Horizon 4 Description
Forza Horizon 4 is the fourth installment in the best-selling open-world racing game series developed by Playground Games.
Mechanics
Similarly to its predecessors, Forza Horizon 4 gives players at their disposal a vast open world. After Colorado in the US, the Mediterranean Sea and Australia featured in previous installments the time has come for the United Kingdom to host the Horizon Festival races, where players assume the role of a racer who wants to become the star of the aforementioned festival.
The game offers the biggest in the series' history selection of cars – players can collect, modify and upgrade over 450 cars of over 100 brands. All of these vehicles can be adjusted to particular races and weather conditions. Players can also influence the vehicles' cosmetics to fit their preferences. Among all those vehicles, there are exotic supercars (including McLaren Senna from the cover), off-road vehicles and icons of world motorization. Players can also change the appearance of their drivers by changing their clothes and accessories. Moreover, one can also purchase real properties that unlock certain benefits. Apart from regular races, the game offers other types of competition featuring time challenges and spectacular events, during which players race against motorcycles or airplanes.
Moreover, the game introduces a number of changes to gameplay mechanics, the most prominent one being seasons of the year changing every week. They affect the weather, day and night length, as well as the conditions on the track. For example, in Fall the roads are usually wet which works against traction. In Winter, on the other hand, lakes freeze over resulting in handy shortcuts.
Game modes
Forza Horizon 4 features both single and online multiplayer modes. Players can now set their own racing tracks and share them with others participating in the given race.
Technical aspects
Forza Horizon 4 is based on the same technology its predecessors. On Xbox One X and more powerful PCs, the game runs at 4K resolution. Moreover, the console version supports 60 fps (however only at 1080p).

Game Series
Forza Horizon Series
The open-world racing game series, which was born in 2012 as a spin-off of the series Forza Motorsport. Initially, it remained somewhat in the shadow of its older sister, but after a few years it came to the forefront and became one of the most important exclusive titles in Microsoft's catalog. Suffice it to say that Forza Horizon 5 broke the record for the number of players playing simultaneously on the day of release in the publisher's games (more than 4.5 million people). Hand in hand with the excellent sales go the very high ratings received in reviews by subsequent parts of the series. Overseeing the brand since its inception is the British studio Playground Games, in cooperation with the Turn 10 Studios team (authors of Forza Motorsport).
