The cubs you must take care of while playing Endling can learn some skills necessary for their survival. This page of the guide lists the locations where you can learn the eight skills in question and explains how to save the trapped cubs.
Jump
You'll acquire the Jump skill automatically after the 4th night. From now on your cubs can get past small hills.
Dig
You'll unlock the Dig skill in the factory area, in the northern part of the map. While making your way through the sewers, one of your cubs will get stuck in a small hole in the floor. Walk up to it and follow the button prompts to help it out.
On the picture above we've marked the simplest way to reach that place, starting from the bridge and the first lair.
Once you unlock Dig, your cubs will be able to get food hidden in holes. The holes in question will be marked with a blue paw icon. Wait for the cub to reach the hole and follow the button prompt once it appears.
Squeeze through
You'll unlock the Squeeze through skill near the factory, in the northern part of the map. One of your cubs will fall while you're making your way through the broken bridge. You must jump down and save it by squeezing it through a small gap between the boards.
Once the dub falls down all the way, follow it through the gap in the railing. Approach the cub and wait for it to get up. Approach the boards on the left and squeeze it through the small hole.
This skill lets you find food in small gaps only a cub can get through. Approach a gap, wait for the cub to come closer and follow the button prompt once it appears.
Climb
You'll unlock the Climb skill during the 15th night. You'll be attacked by a Scavenger while following the trail of a kidnapped cub. A prompt will appear by a tree - press the correct button to let your cub climb it.
This skill allows you to get food from the trees and lets your cub follow you into hard-to-reach places.
Hunt
You'll unlock the Hunt skill near a house in the north-eastern part of the map. While making your way over the rat cage, one of your cubs will fall in. Walk up to it and follow the button prompts to teach it how to hunt.
This skill lets one of your cubs hunt wild animals.
High Jump
Your cubs will acquire the High Jump skill automatically after the 24th night. From now on, all the cubs can jump up onto high elevations.
Deactivate traps
You'll unlock the Deactivate traps skill in the dumping ground, in the north-eastern part of the map. You'll fall into a trap while making your way past a patrolling Scavenger. Follow the button prompts for one of your cubs to free you.
This skill lets your cubs save you if you fall for a trap.
Dangle
You'll unlock the Dangle skill at the factory, in the northern part of the map. You need the High Jump and Climb skills to unlock this skill. Both are unlocked by progressing through the main storyline.
The picture above shows the simplest path to the location where you unlock the skill, starting from the dumping ground.
