With Apex Legends , the situation is similar to GTA: The Trilogy. The core game is still great – the problem is the technical condition of the Nintendo Switch port. The creators, encouraged by the success of Doom, Skyrim or The Witcher 3, also attempted a Switch iteration of their dynamic online battle royale shooter. However, the battles for 60 players turned out to be too much of a burden for the small console.
With a resolution lowered to 720p (or 576p in portable mode) and with a greatly reduced level of detail, the specific artistic style of Apex has been severely impacted. The framerate cap set at 30 turned out to be even more damaging, as the gameplay completely lost its dynamics. Playing on the Switch is generally about who can track the enemy with auto-aim first. In addition, the Joy-Con controls aren't very handy, and if you switch off cross-play, you have to prepare for a longer wait to gather a sufficient number of players. Even if you can play Apex Legends on the Switch if you really want to, it's far from the ideal way to experience it.
