Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition Now on Netflix [Update]
Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition is a compilation of three iconic games from Rockstar Games studio - Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City and San Andreas. Originally released for the sixth generation of consoles, these games revolutionized the series and achieved unimaginable success. This compilation was released to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of GTA III.
Plot
All games included in the trilogy take place in the same universe, so called 3D Universe, independent from the titles in the HD Universe (GTA IV, GTA V, GTA Online). In each of the games we play as an aspiring criminal, climbing the rungs of the criminal underworld.
GTA III takes place in 2001 and puts the player in the role of Claude, a robber seeking revenge on his ex-girlfriend, who left him for death during a robbery. Vice City is set in 1986 and features Tommy Vercetti, a mobster in the service of the Mafia looking for money stolen during a drug deal. The events in San Andreas take place in 1992 - we play as Carl Johnson, who wants to stop drug distribution in his hometown.
The storylines of the game are not directly connected with each other, but sometimes we can meet in them characters known from the other games of the trilogy.
Mechanics
GTA: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition is a compilation of third-person sandboxes in which we complete story and side missions, earn more money and search for collectibles. The cities available to the player - Liberty City in III, Vice City, and Los Santos, San Fierro and Las Venturas in San Andreas - are vast, full of surprises and offer a lot of freedom. Combat in the games uses a third-person shooting mechanic. We move around the game world using many available vehicles, usually stolen from the street.
Apart from the story missions, the games offer many challenges rewarded with useful items or passive skills. For example, firefighter missions involve putting out fires and, depending on the game, reward the player with a flamethrower or complete immunity to fire. Paramedic missions involve bringing wounded patients to the hospital and reward the player with increased health or infinite sprint.
Game modes
All games included in the trilogy offer single-player gameplay only.
