While the PC battle royale has a fairly clear winner in the form of Fortnite, on mobile platforms the battle is still going on and this match has no clear favorite. All the key competitors can boast of results that make the desktop versions of PUBG or the aforementioned work of Epic Games look pale.
Free Fire is one of the younger contenders to the battle royale throne, but it still is almost six years old. The game doesn't really stand out from other representatives of the genre - up to 50 players parachute into a weapons-filled, gradually shrinking arena, where they must acquire equipment and do everything to beat the others. The success of this title is quite a good level of refinement and, above all, low requirements, thanks to which even owners of weaker smartphones can play Free Fire.
Despite relatively young age, the production boasts an impressive track record of success. The game had 182 million downloads in the pivotal year of 2018, which was enough to make it the fourth most downloaded entry of that year (and the second most downloaded battle royale, right behind PUBG Mobile). By February 2020, the number of downloads had grown to half a billion, while at the peak of a single day, as many as 80 million players logged into the servers. Currently, the counter has already exceeded the magical limit of one billion downloads.
