Scale of popularity:

Dungeon Fighter Online is another title you may not have heard of, even if your day starts and ends with a review of gaming news. The 2005 online manga-style beat'em'up built the audience primarily in Asia, although it failed to excite any significant interest in the US, where it appeared five years after the original release.
The great popularity of the game came in 2012 – at that time, Nexon reported that at one point, there were 3 million concurrent users registered in China alone. Today, the game fares very well – officially, the publisher speaks of 850 million players. In total, during the first 10 years of presence on the market, the game generated $8.7 billion in gross revenue, and in subsequent years continued to generate $1.5 billion in revenue per year. The publisher has even boasted that the game has earned more money than all Star Wars movies combined, which is sort of a manipulation, since this comparison only takes into account the revenue from ticket sales in theaters.
