What kind of game is this?
Several titles attempted to capitalize on the popularity of DayZ, a simple last-man-standing battle, similar to the Japanese movie Battle Royale or the more famous Hunger Games. However, it did not succeed as much as Brendan Greene himself once he was given sufficient funds and people. Created from the ground up under his direction, Playerunknown's Battlegrounds once broke all records in popularity, driving out veterans such as DOTA and CSGO on Steam. In short, a slightly more realistic battle royale with guns straight from the ARMA series everyone wanted to try their hand at. It wasn't the best game, but certainly the biggest phenomenon of 2017 – a game that launched a veritable battleroyale madness.
What will the Playersunknown's Battlegrounds be remembered for?
Admittedly, some people would probably rather forget what we got from PUBG, because the magic "battle royale" words may bring red in many people's eyes. But that doesn't change the fact that this craze continues in the form of Call of Duty: Warzone, Apex: Legends and, of course, Fortnite. Somewhere along the way there were loads of rubbish like The Culling II or Radical Heights, and large-scale duds like Firestorm, which was needed like a BR mode for Battlefield V.
