What is Yakuza: Like a Dragon?
Yakuza once again returns in a barmy installment, which may not speak to the fans of the series. The atmosphere, sense of humor and specific approach to gameplay will remain the same, but Yakuza: Like a Dragon stands out significantly from the rest of the series. This will be a turn-based game, rather than a TPP action!
What is Yakuza: Like a Dragon about?
This time, we will not play Kazuma Kiryu, but Ichiban Kasuga, released out of prison, where he was serving a sentence for crimes committed by his boss. The setting will also change, as instead of Tokyo, we will go to Yokohama, where our hero will end up after being betrayed by his former comrades. As you can see, things aren't easy for Kasuga from the beginning, but he is not going to give up, and plans to take revenge on everyone.
OUR EXPECTATIONS
I look with cautious enthusiasm at the revolutionary changes in the latest episode of my favorite soap opera about Japanese gangsters. I still haven't finished many of the installments, and last year's spin-off Judgement was really good, so the fact the series diverges in parallel giving us something new like Like a Dragon is acutally quite nice. It will be interesting to see what the cult brawler looks like as a tun-based jRPG. As long as I can continue to sing karaoke in-between the drug dealing and murders; as long as I can try to understand the rules of mahjong again, it should be good.

I like it when developers are willing to take risks. The creators of the Yakuza series certainly have that ability, abandoning the classic solutions and turning the seventh installment of the series into an RPG with a turn-based combat system. And then there's a whole new cast. However, judging by the reviews of the Japanese version, this experiment went well and breathed new life into this IP. Can't wait, especially since it seems that all the crucial ingredients of this world will be preserved. I also won't miss the old gameplay formula, as it was recently delivered in Judgment, so we will certainly see it in future productions.
