- Quest type: side
- What I love about this quest: Close references to books; ability to conclude Geralt and Yen's romance the way we see fit.
- Score: 9/10
For me, and probably for the majority of fans of The Witcher, the Last Wish quest was one of the most important missions in the game. Why? Because it's here that the fate of Geralt and Yennefer's turbulent relationship is decided. It's only up to us to decide how the story of these two will end, and additionally, we learn the answer to the question that has bothered Yen for many years – was their love just a matter of Geralt's wish made in Rinde, or were they really destined to each other?
Same as in the story by Andrzej Sapkowski, we're dealing with a genie. Finding and confronting it isn't much of a challenge, though the fight can be tricky on higher difficulty levels. The real fun begins after defeating this magical creature. That's when decision time comes. I don't know about you, but I couldn't imagine any other ending than the one in which Geralt and Yennefer are finally and truly together.
The excellent journal entry describing the quest also deserves a round of applause. The text by Dandelion reminds the player that the witcher and the sorceress have already met a genie, and it was by no means a peaceful encounter. The poet also emphasizes that even if Yennefer comes up with a bad idea, there's no point in trying to change her mind, because it will be of no avail. After all, sorceresses are extremely stubborn.
