A Towerful of Mice is another one of my fondest memories of the third part of the saga. Even though I completed it almost seven years ago, I can remember it very clearly. I came across the Towerful of Mice quest fairly quickly – within the first dozen or so hours from the beginning of my adventure. From the very beginning, I was intrigued by the mysterious island of Fyke Isle, and discovering it with the Magic Lamp, rediscovering past events, turned out to be extremely interesting. It got even more exciting when I stumbled upon Anabelle's ghost and started learning her story.
What's also worth bearing in mind here is that this story has a great conclusion and I, for one, was convinced that defeating the ghost (who later turned out to be a mighty Virgin bane) and bringing the girl's lover there would end the whole matter. It turned out, however, that the man was slaughtered in the name of love and gave his own life to lift the curse from his late fiancée. It's exactly the twists of the story such as those in this quest that made me love The Witcher 3 so much. There could be an interesting story that you would be sorry to miss literally at every step.
However, I mentioned the second aspect of this mission – the folklore. You may not be aware of it, but The Mice Tower really exists, and it's located in Kruszwica, Poland. Its name comes from the fairy tale of King Popiel, a legendary ruler of Poland, who was eaten alive in this tower by mice that hatched from the bodies of his uncles poisoned by himself during a feast. The story of this quest in The Witcher 3 is almost identical.
