What exactly is Maid of Sker?
A first-person survival horror developed by Wales Interactive, of Don't Knock Twice and Soul Axiom fame. The action of Maid of Sker takes place in the Sker House – a real-life facility, one of the most famous haunted buildings in the world, immortalized in the novel of the same title by R. D. Blackmore, from 1872.
What is the plot of Maid of Sker about?
The story told in the game was based on the legend of Elizabeth Williams. In order to prevent her from eloping with her lover, her father had her locked in one of the rooms of the Sker House, where she died of a broken heart. Since then, Elizabeth haunted the gloomy mansion. We play as a musician, Thomas Evans, and have to face the terror of a haunted house, trying to save a woman he loves.
What is the gameplay like in Maid of Sker?
The production from Wales Interactive will be a typical survival horror. We get first-person view, focus on exploration and fight for survival. Traversing subsequent rooms of the haunted building, we will solve environmental puzzles and try to hide from deadly adversaries. Depending on our actions, the game will lead us to one of several different endings.
OUR EXPECTATIONS
This has been on my watch list ever since the first trailer came out. I definitely have a soft spot for horrors where we have to hide and escape, and there's practically no way to directly engage the opponents. In addition, the setting of Maid of Sker seems really interesting, and the surroundings of the haunted hotel in Wales look really good. I am also pleased to announce that the game will not be completely linear. If the game is too hard on the try-and-fail premise (especially the fail part), I often get discouraged – that's how I failed to enjoy Outlast 2, among others.

OUR EXPECTATIONS
The most convenient time to release scary games seems more like autumn, or winter. But the developers of Maid of Sker want this summer to be marked by goose bumps and long, sweaty nights. Walking and hiding is nothing new in video games, but for some reason, Welsh folklore hasn't been very present in these productions – and it seem to work wonders here. This is why I find this game particularly interesting. The graphics also seem good.
