What is Rock of Ages 3?

The third installment in a series of unusual hybrids of action and tower defense, with a substantial admixture of Monty Python-style humor. During the game, we take control of the large-sized boulder, which, bypassing various obstacles, tries to reach the fortress intact, and destroy the gates behind which our rival is hiding. The game was written by the authors of the previous two installments in the series, the ACE Team, this time assisted by the debuting Giant Monkey Robot.

What's gameplay like in Rock of Ages 3?

The game offers a number of fun modes, most notably a story campaign (in the course of which we face unusual opponents such as Julius Caesar or the Spaghetti Monster) and competitive multiplayer (local and network). In both variants, the gameplay takes place in two ways. On the one hand, we steer the eponymous rock and try to "reach" the enemy gates, avoiding traps along the way. In the second phase of the game, like in tower defense productions, we deploy obstacles on our own track to stop a rival from counterattacking.

OUR EXPECTATIONS

I played my first Rock of Ages almost a decade ago. It was a game full of quirky humor, and with an original concept. His problems were mainly due to experimental nature – the ideas only lasted a few hours of fun, which eventually became monotonous. I'd love to see if, in those nine years, the ACE Team found a way to get around it.
