In Conan Exiles, thralls are good way of improving your combat potential or making processing and obtaining resources faster. On this page of the guide we explain how to make a thrall from an NPC, and show what are their uses and types.
Obtaining Thralls
The time for thralling will come in later parts of the game. Firstly, you need to get a lot of resources to build basic buildings. Secondly, you should only employ thralls once you've established a location which you want to settle and built your base.
Once these two steps are complete, you can start enslaving other NPCs to make thralls out of them. To be able to enslave other characters you need two items and one building. You're going to need a blunt force weapon (a standard stone club also works) and Fiber Bindings. Before you leave for a hunt, construct a Lesser Wheel of Pain. This building is required in order to train an NPC to be a thrall. To build it, you need Wood x200, Stone x200, Iron Bar x50 and Twine x50.
Find an NPC, approach him and hit him a few times with the club to make him lose conciousness. Once he is on the ground, bind him with the rope and lead him back to the Wheel of Pain. Unfortunately, you're going to need to drag him all the way back to the base, at the same time, watch out for any dangers around. After the NPC is delivered to the building, feed him with food.
{ramkazielona Each food has different properties, but the fastest way to feed a thrall is by feeding him with Gruel. This food can be prepared at the camp fire by spending 5 Plant Fiber and 1 Seed. A single yield is 10 portions of this food. {/ramkazielona}
After some time (depending on the server, this may take more or less time), the NPC becomes "thralled". You can now place the thrall in your inventory - to use him, choose him from the inventory and place him anywhere.
Thrall Professions
You can read the profession of a thrall above the NPCs head. Below are all possible thrall professions.
Profession | Use |
Alchemist | Can be placed at any alchemical object where he unlocks new recipes. |
Sorcerer | Applying him unlocks new pages with sorcerer spells. |
Tanner | Can be placed at any tanner object where he generates new leather faster. |
Priest | They are of different faiths, and are required to summon a powerful avatar of each religion. |
Blacksmith | Can be placed at any blacksmithing object, increasing damage of and adding new traits to a weapon if he was present during its creation. |
Cook | Responsible for preparing food. Thanks to his help, the food will be processed much faster. |
Archer | Perfect for defending important objects, specializes in ranged combat. |
Taskmaster | When placed at a torture chamber, increases the durability of clubs and binds used to get new thralls. |
Armorer | When placed at armorer objects, can increase the defense capabilities of armor, their durability, or even add resistance to cold and hot temperatures. |
Carpenter | Unlocks new recipes that utilize wood. |
Dancer | Remove corruption which negatively affect maximum health and stamina of the player. |
Bearer | Depending on the bearer level, he has 10 - 25 slots for items and resources. |
Fighter | Perfect for attacking enemy camps or fighting more powerful opponents. Can also be ordered to defend certain areas. |
Don't forget about thrall levels. The lowest level is I and the highest is IV. The higher the level, the more useful the thrall's skills are, but getting higher level NPCs or training them takes a lot of time.
