CoD WW2: Starting tips CoD WW2 guide, walkthrough
Last update: 01 June 2020
Call of Duty WWII is not a very demanding game, but it can still cause a few issues on the higher difficulty levels. In such a case, it is worth staying true to some universal advice, which will always come in handy during the main campaign. Apart from that, this chapter will also provide you with a description of all of your squad members.
- Use cover
- Save your grenades for large enemy groups
- Look around for ammunition and first aid kits
- Use the support of your squad members
Use cover
Admittedly, on the lower difficulty levels, you can throw all caution to the wind and freely run around the level without having to worry about the enemies, however, on the higher difficulty settings, you will need to use a little bit of combat strategy. Keep utilizing cover, in the form of barrels, walls and other fortifications. Sometimes you will have the chance to knock over a nearby table, in order to use it as a form of protection.
Save your grenades for large enemy groups
It is not on every map that you will have easy access to grenades, so it is worth saving them for special situations. Clusters of enemy soldiers can cause you a lot of trouble, but a few explosions in the right locations will work like a charm. Aside from that, fragmentation grenades will effectively flush out German soldiers from behind their cover. You should also learn to use smoke grenades - they will allow you to cut off a part of the enemy force, and in some missions you will be attacked from multiple sides at once.
Look around for ammunition and first aid kits
During your playthrough you will probably run out of ammo quite a few times, and your health bar will often be at a dangerously low level. There are locations with ammo and first aid kits scattered around every map, and you need to constantly keep an eye out for them. Remember, that ammo crates will refill all of your magazines, regardless of which weapon you are currently using.
Use the support of your squad members
During most of the missions you will be travelling with at least one companion - each of them has his own unique ability and, in some cases, can turn the tide of battle. You simply need to approach one of the soldiers and press the correct button. Of course, the abilities of your squad members cannot be used without limitations, and you will need to pull your own weight for some time after they help you.
- Turner - provides ammunition. Works similarly to ammo crates, which are scattered around the map.
- Zussman - you can acquire first aid kits from him one at a time.
- Stilies - provides grenades. Resupplies your stock of fragmentation and smoke grenades.
- Pierson - this soldier can mark enemy troops, making them visible even when behind cover.
- Aiello - you can receive a flare from him, which will allow you to call in an artillery strike at a given location when it is thrown.
