Types of resources
There are three types of resources available in XCOM Chimera Squad - Elerium, Intel, and Credits.
Information about your number of resources is displayed in the top right corner of the city screen.
What is the use of Elerium?
Elerium is used to finance new technologies in the Assembly tab in the city's menu.
It is worth noting that not all new technologies require Elerium. Less complex/less important technologies may only require you to wait a certain number of days to develop them.
What is the use of Intel?
Intel has two main functions. The first is to buy and improve Field Teams on the city map. You can assign one team to each district. You have to pay Intel to hire a team. You also need it every time you want to promote a team to the next rank (the highest rank is third).
The second use of Intel is to buy unique goods at the Scavenger. You must first unlock access to this trader and then wait for the market day (happens once every few days in the game world).
Try to always have dozens of Intel points in stock. You will be able to afford some particularly useful random items that may appear in the offer.
What do the Credits do?
You need Credits to buy stock in the Supply tab on the city menu.
Supply menu includes items that can only be assigned to one character, as well as upgrades for the entire team (e.g. stronger armor for all the characters). The list of goods is initially limited. More items appear as new technologies are developed in the Assembly menu.
How to get resources easier?
There are several universal ways to get resources:
1) Missions - When selecting a mission, you can find out what resources you get as a reward. This will allow you to choose the task with the most desirable materials.
2) Situations - They differ from the missions in that you simply send the APC to a selected district. Resources/rewards will be automatically collected on the next in-game day.
3) Field Teams - You can assign one team to each of the 9 districts:
- Finance Teams allow you to gather Credits.
- Security Teams allow you to gather Intel.
- Technology teams allow you to gather Elerium.
The "payout" of the resources takes place every Friday. In addition, each team can be promoted to the third rank (highest available) - this allows them to obtain more resources of a particular type.
4) Stunned opponents - You can stun enemies in hand-to-hand combat or with the right weapons, ammunition and gadgets. The more opponents you manage to capture alive, the greater the chance of receiving a bonus in the form of Intel points. Information about a possible reward for "playing as a pacifist" can be found on the mission summary screen.
5) Spec Ops - They are unlocked soon after starting the game and can be selected from the city map. These operations are a good source of Elerium, Intel, and credits. Unfortunately, they have two important limitations - you have to assign one of the team members to perform an operation and wait a few days to complete it. The chosen agent won't be available for missions until the operation is finished.
6) Scavenger Market - The market can sell e.g. resources. You can spend Intel on other materials. In the example from the picture above, we were able to purchase a pack of Elerium.
