6. Almanac Tropico 5 Guide

Last update: 11 May 2016

Almanac is a list of all the information about your rule. You should consult it when you don't know what to do next or how to make the situation better.

Most pages contain charts that depict the data in a user-friendly way.

The economy window is a summary of your financial results - 6. Almanac - Tropico 5 - Game Guide and Walkthrough

The economy window is a summary of your financial results.

On the very top you will find the most important indicator - Balance. Here you can see all the incomes from tourism and selling goods, as well as the expenditures on salaries or building new objects, all from the whole year.

Below, there is the Resource Overview. Inside, you will find a list of all the goods on your island. It contains information about the amount produces, about export and import, about consumptions and price for 1000 units. It is very useful when your factories are short on resources, because you can see what's the problem.

The next tab is Tourism, divided into further subcategories. You can see all the information about tourism: what's the income of particular hotels and attractions, which type of tourists is the most popular on the island and do they find the island interesting.

Workforce tab is important, but later in the game you will probably find this form of representing information insufficient. For more detailed information, you should see the Population page.

This page illustrates the amount of electricity produced and used. This data can be viewed in every building that produces electricity.

Happiness

The Happiness tab will allow you to quickly check what makes your citizens (un)happy - 6. Almanac - Tropico 5 - Game Guide and Walkthrough

The Happiness tab will allow you to quickly check what makes your citizens (un)happy.

You should pay particular attention to this matter in the year preceding the election, if the result is uncertain. This way you will get rid of the biggest problems. Watch out however for small details, like the fact that not every object can be built in a given era.

Things that influence happiness the most are: Food, Housing and Job. Next in line is Religion, Crime Safety and Healthcare.

Mind the fact that different factions have different attitudes towards certain aspects of happiness - Religious faction will favour religion of course, Capitalists will favour Job and Communists - Housing.

Each category has a list of buildings that influence a given area of satisfaction.

Population

The Population page provides various information about your citizens - 6. Almanac - Tropico 5 - Game Guide and Walkthrough

The Population page provides various information about your citizens. Things like employment, education, age and many others can be found here.

On the top, there is the Population tab divided into Employed, Unemployed and Not in Labor Force. You should view this list from time to time, as it will allow you to adapt the number of workplaces to the value of workforce on the island.

List of the Homeless, along with a number of "crowning achievements of Tropico's art of engineering" (i.e. Shacks), allows you to view those who don't have the money, or simply don't want to live more comfortably. Creating and island on which everybody will live in normal houses is very difficult, because there will always be some weirdos that don't want to live normally.

Population Growth shows how things are with new citizens of the island - whether they are immigrants or newborns. There is also a list of deaths, to show their causes.

If you click on the arrow, you will be able to view lists of your citizens according to their education, age, wealth and also to view managers' special skills and special citizens (like for example Rebels).

Politics

This page of the Almanac contains information about all the dangers that can make you loose your position - 6. Almanac - Tropico 5 - Game Guide and Walkthrough

This page of the Almanac contains information about all the dangers that can make you loose your position. From lost election through rebels revolt to a hostile country's invasion.

If you view this page right before the election, you will find an approximate number of votes that you and your opponent will get. You can try to win the election by a fraud, but bear in mind that this will influence citizens' attitude towards you.

Popular Support is the second most important indicator in the game, after Balance. It predicts the number of people that would vote on you, if the election were to be held right now.

Factions is a list of general political views of the citizens. They are divided into several categories, each of them having two sides. For example two different sides of one category can be Religious faction and Militarists. Every citizen leans towards one side. This way you can see the level of citizens' satisfaction with your actions.

Internal Threats, namely rebel actions - the more rebels on the island or the more dissatisfied they are, the more frequent the attacks. It is good to issue the Amnesty edict from time to time and to have some Guard Towers, Barracks and Army Bases. Spread them across the city, because rebels attack from various spots.

Foreign Relations is an overview of your relations with neighbouring countries. Things that influence them the most are trade routes, constitution articles, completing missions for other countries and also diplomatic actions.

Dynasty and Buildings

Dynasty

The Dynasty page doesnt really contain any significant information - 6. Almanac - Tropico 5 - Game Guide and Walkthrough
