It's a good idea to develop your character to the maximum as quickly as possible. This way you will unlock all the tools.

The development of character in Thief Simulator is as crucial as the theft itself. The level of character, or rather the available skill points, are linked to the equipment that the player can use. Without some necessary stuff you won't get inside many houses. That's why it's worth to develop your character fast - we explain this issue in the following section of our guide.

The player's character gains experience points at the end of a successful robbery - when you manage to escape from the map with all loot. Experience points are earned for each item you manage to steal - the more worth it, the more experience points you will get. What's more, the final amount of experience points is influenced by the score you get for a successful break-in - the higher the score (up to S), the more points you will get. The bill is simple - the value of each stolen item is multiplied by the burglary rating.

To quickly earn a lot of experience points and advance to the next level, it is advisable to follow these guidelines:

  1. Don't get detected during a mission. If someone notices a badly parked car, or your character running around the house, or someone lifting a heavy TV, they will immediately call the police. In such situation your score drops to level B and you will lose a whole lot of experience points.
  2. Always steal as many items as you can fit in your inventory - never leave items at home. If you fill your backpack with garbage and hit a more valuable item, throw it away to make room for it.
  3. Perform additional missions - these can be activated from the computer (Rent-A-Thug tab). Usually these are simple missions requiring destruction of something (such as breaking the toilet or dishes), or stealing a specific object, and allow you to get a lot of additional "stuff".
  4. Items need time (24 hours) to renew themselves. So if something goes wrong during a burglary and someone detects you, get all the valuable items on the floor, collect rubbish to fill up the equipment and run away from the map to complete the mission. You will get a poor rating and few experience points, but you will be able to repeat the burglary, and previously thrown valuable items will magically be in their place. This way you will not have to wait for them to be renewed.
