Character development-factions | The Cycle The Cycle guide, tips

Last update: 29 October 2019

There is no typical character development implemented in The Cycle, in which the player gains experience points to then unlock new special abilities or increase the character parameters. Here, for a change, it all depends on the level of relations with factions-this affects the weapons and special abilities that the player will be able to use in the game. In this Chapter, we explain how factions work and how it affects the gameplay.

Available fractions

An overview of the available factions, as well as their levels.

The following factions are available in the game:

  1. ICA - fraction which focuses around the balance between mobility and fire power. Their weapons are great for characters who must be effective at any distance.
  2. OSIRIS - a faction that places an emphasis on speed and mobility, making their weapons great for players who like to be in the middle of a battle and fight at close range.
  3. KOROLEV-faction that focuses on heavy weapons at the expense of mobility and speed. Weapons from this group are great for players who just want to deal the highest possible damage, preferably from a longer distance.

Selection and development of factions

When starting any game-except for the tutorial and the shooting range-the player must select one of the factions described in the previous paragraph. During the match itself, the player will represent the interests of the faction-all raw materials acquired under the contracts are simply transferred to them. At the end of the game, the player receives experience points that fill the development bar of the relationship with the faction - when it is filled, the level increases, unlocking new items, weapons and skills.

The final amount of experience points received for the successful completion of the game depends on how good the player did - whether he/she reached the end, if he/she managed to evacuate and how many contracts he/she managed to finish.

Note-selecting a faction is not permanent. Relationships with any faction can be developed simultaneously, unlocking all the items available in the game.

Influence of factions on gameplay

As mentioned several times in this chapter, the development of faction relationships and advancing to higher levels impacts the tools that the player will be able to use on the battlefield. These are, above all else, new and better models of weapons, gadgets and skills. At the moment (version 4.22) the player cannot unlock new versions of Kits, but it will certainly appear with the subsequent updates in the game.

Note - to use a weapon or item from a specific faction, you just need to achieve the required level, create it and equip the character with it. Moreover, in order to use it, it is not necessary to select the faction associated with the weapon during a match.

Tips

Finally, a few tips useful when developing factions, namely:

  1. Review the weapons, gadgets, and special abilities available in the crafting tab and determine which ones you want to unlock the most. Afterwards, play through several matches, selecting the faction that is associated with the aforementioned items, unlock them and equip your character with them. Thanks to this, you will have access to weapons that will suit your gameplay style, facilitating further development.
  2. It is worth to advance your relations with every faction to 2nd or 3rd level as quickly as possible - this will unlock their basic equipment, mainly weapons. Thanks to this you will get access to a sniper rifle, grenade launcher, assault rifle and SMG n - and it will certainly make it easier for you to choose the weapon that you will use in further matches.
  3. Remember that you choose a specific faction only for the duration of a match - once it is over, you can (and definitely should!) select another one to develop them all simultaneously.
