Repairing tanks in Tank Mechanic Simulator Tank Mechanic Simulator guide, tips

Last update: 25 February 2020

Your main task in Tank Mechanic Simulator is to repair tanks. To do this, you need to know your tools. In this chapter, you will find information about what you can use to repair a tank and how you can repair damaged vehicles in Tank Mechanic Simulator.

Tools

(tank before and after) grinder, rust, sand, 2x paint, hammer

The game offers you a set of tools that you must use to restore a tank. All the tools are on the table near the workshop pit. If you lose tools, you can reset them from the radial menu (the default buttons are mouse scroll wheel or R key). When you get the right ability (tool belt), you can carry all the tools with you (keys from 3 to 7 allow you to select the right tool). With the angle grinder (1), you can cut off a part of the vehicle - this is not worth doing, because the cut off part needs to be repaired, and this increases the cost. The same goes for the hammer (3). The angle grinder can also remove rust from the tank - press the X key to change the mode of operation of the grinder. The pneumatic key (2) can't be used, but it passively increases the speed of screwing the screws. The sanding tool (4) will allow you to clean the tank with compressed air - you will use it often after removing the rust. The rust removal tool (5), as the name suggests, removes rust. The paint sprayer (6) allows you to apply the primer/base to the tank, as well as repaint it - in standard colors or purchased camouflage patterns.

Outsourcing and purchasing new parts

There are many situations where the tank from the order is lacking several parts or they are in such bad condition that you will have to outsource the repairs. Each of these options requires money, and, sometimes, a bit of time.

Outsourcing repairs require time (usually about a minute) and money. To go to the repair screen, open the radial menu (by default, the mouse scroll wheel or R key) and select Storage. There you will find all the removed parts from the tank along with information about their condition. In this window, you can select specific parts by left-clicking on the corresponding items, and choosing what you want to do with them - give them for repair, sell or recycle (this will give you some resources for future parts).

To buy parts, you only have to spend money - you can get them by using the computer or the tablet. The online store has filtering options, as well as the option to search a part by entering its name. Unfortunately, you won't find all the tank parts here. In this window, you can also buy schematics for crafting new items or brand-new tanks. The image below shows both windows - thanks to them, you will know what to look for.

How to repair a tank?

Repairing a damaged tank is quite a time-consuming process, especially when the damage covers literally the entire tank. At the beginning of the game, you may be a little confused about where to start and how the restoration process should go.

First, you should use the rust removal tool to restore the metal components. Use the jack next to the pit to dismantle the turret and engine (the photo below shows both jacks - approach them and interact to dismantle the parts).

Here's what a tank covered in rust looks like (1). After removing the rust (2), you can proceed with sanding - this way you will clean the vehicle (3) and be able to prepare for applying the primer (4). Then, using the same tool, you can move on to painting your tank - after placing it on the pit or in a separate room designed for painting. If you find that there are parts that need repair, or you need to buy new ones, do it now and assemble them - if necessary, you can also decide to paint them. This is how a tank painted with standard colors (5) looks like.

Looking at the tank, you can select Tank Analysis from the radial menu - there you will find the general condition of your tank broken down into individual elements. It is worth using, because sometimes you may have problems finding all the tank parts that haven't been worked on yet. Here you can also buy the necessary parts.

How do I finish an order?

You can access the organizer from your tablet or computer. Here you can hand over all vehicles and complete orders. The photo below shows the organizer menu. Active jobs are on the left, and details of the contract are on the right - you can learn where the tank currently is, check its type, money and reputation received by completing the job, the degree of required repairs and the level of the vehicle assembly. At the bottom, you will find 2 drop-down lists - you can check what else needs to be repaired or installed in the tank. To complete the task, select the appropriate contract, and then click Finish order.
