Game modes in Arena in Valor Arena of Valor Guide
Last update: 10 November 2017
Here you can find info about game modes in the Strike of Kings:
Grand Battle
The Grand Battle gameplay is based on identical premises as the Summoners Rift in League of Legends.
- Two five-palyer teams fight on a map divided into three alleys.
- The goal is to destroy all the turrets within one of the alleys, and then the enemy's base.
- Minions of both teams are in the alleys, offering some aid in combat.
- Destroying the turret in the enemy's base buffs the minions, who will always defeat enemy minions if the latter aren't aided by heroes.
- In-between the alleys, there's the Wild, where you can find neutral creatures to kill. Some of them provide temporary buffs to the player that kills it. Killing the biggest one buffs up the whole team.
Grand Battle mode is the default mode for all team matches.
Abyssal Clash
In the Abyssal Clash game mode, two five-player teams fight each other in one straight alley. The following rules apply.
- Each player gets a random hero at the beginning.
- The drawing can be repeated with the Reroll skill. The first reroll is free; after that, you have to pay in red gems.
- There's no recall option here, and staying in your base doesn't replenish health.
- You can only heal yourself by picking up the first aid kits that spawn on the map.
- Similarly to other modes, the goal is to destroy the turrets and enemy base.
- Items in this mode can only be bought after your hero dies.
Valley Skirmish
The rules in the Valley Skirmish are similar to the rules of Grand Battle, with some exceptions:
- Teams are made up from three heroes.
- The map has only one alley with the Wild on the top and bottom.
- In the wild, right below the alley, there's a speed buff, and further below that - a big neutral best buffing the whole team.
- The goal is to destroy the turret and the enemy base.
- HP is replenished in the base.
Solo Battle
In Solo Battle two players face each other:
- No recall.
- HP is replenished in the base.
- One first aid kit is available in the very center of the map - try to control it.
- Goal: destroy the turret and the enemy base.
Death Match
The Death Match mode is much different from other modes:
- Can be played in 2v2, 3v3 and 5v5.
- Held on a special map without turrets, AI minions or the wild.
- All players begin with heroes on top experience levels and with items chosen beforehand.
- The goal is to kill everyone.
- Killed heroes aren't automatically respawned
- The game ends after the last player from a team is killed.
This mode isn't available yet.
Hook Wars
One of the special modes, only available during weekends. The rules are as follows:
- Each player gets a random hero.
- The drawing can be repeated with the Reroll skill. The first reroll is free; after that, you have to pay in red gems.
- In the middle of the map, there's a square area, separated by a precipice.
- The goal is to control that point by having more units there.
- After getting this point, the team starts to gain points - they're shown in the top of the screen. The team that reaches 100 points wins.
- To kill enemies, the players have to use the special hook ability, which draws the target towards the player. You have to be careful in order not to get hooked yourself.
- There's no recall and HP replenishment in the base, but you can use first aid kits (2 small ones and one bigger on each side of the map).
- Additionally, every now and then a chest will appear at the precipice - the team that deals the last blow to it will get a buff.
- Along the edge, some buffs can also stroll sometimes. They can also be reached with the hook. They include additional gold or additional fire damage to your hook.
- Items in this mode can only be bought after your hero dies.
