Sniper Contracts 2: Shooting Guide Sniper Contracts 2 guide, walkthrough
Last update: 15 June 2021
On this page of the guide to Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2, you can learn how to fire effectively over long distances. Long-range and short-range shots are very different. Our guide to Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 breaks down shooting to its first factors.
Distance to target
The distance from the target is one of the two main factors affecting the trajectory of the projectile. Bullets are subject to gravity, so they will descend as they cover more distance. The further the target, the lower the bullet falls. This effect becomes more pronounced over distance. To correctly measure the distance from the target, equip binoculars (default 'T' on PC).
In the photo above, you can see the distance scale measured in meters. If the distance from the target is around 400 meters or less, you don't need any corrections. If it turns out that the target is, for example, 1220 meters away, adjust the scope to that distance. Set the scope to 1200 meters and aim between 1200 and 1250. It's really hard to land a headshot on such distances, but shots in the trunk with a high-caliber rifle are also deadly.
Aerodynamics
The second major factor affecting the ballistics is the wind. In the photo below, you can see that each distance value on the crosshairs also has white, horizontal lines (on lower difficulty levels, you will also see a skewed, vertical line that denotes the influence of the wind. Horizontal white lines indicate which way the wind is blowing and how hard – use the tips of these lines to shoot with a correction to the wind.
Firing effectively
Keeping ballistics in mind, it's worth discussing the appropriate strategy for taking down an entire outpost. The main thing is to get rid of the snipers first – they're marked with a round icon. If an alarm goes off, they'll be the quickest to find you. Also remember to trace the patrol routes of all enemies and eliminate those who go the farthest away from other soldiers. If you have the opportunity to eliminate several enemies with one shot – do it.
Generally, don't try shooting moving targets. It's very challenging to land such a shot, so avoid doing that unless you're going for an achievement, or you need an immediate second hit to finish the job. If you don't know if you measured the distance correctly with your scope, a shot at the trunk should also kill most of the opponents (except armored).
How to make sure no one notices the bodies
It often happens that even if you eliminate all lone soldiers, you will have to come up with a way to separating groups of enemies. Examine the environment. You can also mark them with binoculars, as in the photo below. All barrels (not red!), antennas, fuse boxes , cars and generators are objects that you can take advantage of.
Shoot these objects and you will see that 1 soldier will always leave the group and check to see what's going on. Then, you will be able to eliminate him and not worry about anyone noticing. However, if it ever happens that you use all the objects, use the appropriate type of ammo to lure enemies.
