Combat and shooting mechanics in Realm Royale Realm Royale Guide, Tips
Last update: 11 July 2018
The shooting mechanics in Realm Royale are very intuitive, although they can also cause many problems. In this chapter you will learn how to shoot and hit in Realm Royale. You will also find some tricks about shooting and using terrain as cover. There's also the right arm advantage, which is so often forgotten by the players.
Shooting in Real Royale is a bit different from what we've seen in e.g. Fortnite. In some cases, you can also witness bloom - a randomly generated spot on the player's scope. In most guns, however, the game uses mechanics based on projectiles with a travel time. This means that when a bullet is fired, it will reach its target after a certain period of time. That said, you only have to keep this in mind when firing over long distances and or to a moving target, as the travel time of the projectiles is generally extremely low (high bullet speed).
In some cases, though, such as the class weapons of the Warrior (Axe) and the Engineer (Plasma launcher), the game adopts different mechanics. In addition to travel time, bullet drop was used, so if you want to hit an opponent from a longer distance, you need to aim above their head. Remember, too, that these classes are the only ones that fight beast at short range, as hitting a player at a long distance with their class weapons is, if not outright impossible, then at least not easy.
Another thing that needs to be mentioned is the class weapon of the Hunter, the bow. Fully drawn bow guarantees a long shot and maximum damage in case of a hit. A bow drawn halfway or slightly will result in the arrow dropping to the ground; and even if it hits an enemy, it will deal only a portion of the maximum damage. It is therefore crucial to have a different, additional weapon when playing as a Hunter.
When in combat, you must also remember about cover. This is the only way (in addition to the class skill of the Engineer - barricade) to avoid at least some of the incoming damage. Remember, when you stand in the open, you're a sitting duck for players who use any kind of cover. Never give up the right arm advantage in combat. Always lean to the right when behind cover, as this is how the third person's view is designed in this game. You will see more on the right than on the left.
Another thing are combat tactics. If you have a weapon with low rate of fire, you should lean out from the cover only when you shoot. This way you can deal the maximum amount damage with minimal damage to yourself. If you find yourself in a situation where you cannot hide behind a cover and the opponent is also standing in the open ground, do not stand still nor jump. The best course of action is to move from left to right at random intervals. In this way the opponent's "lead" (the reticule's movement after the target) will be much less effective. Jumping during battles can cause you some problems. Not only is it much harder to place the reticule on the enemy (you have to control the mouse in four directions, instead of two), and the accuracy of some weapons decreases (the reticule becomes larger).
TTK (short for Time to kill) in Realm Royale is extremely short. This means that with well placed shots you are able to take out an enemy with 2400 defense points with just two shots, and in less than a second, if you are using a submachine gun. It is important to take this into account, as your opponent can do exactly the same to you. Always use cover, never stand still and choose your fights, so that you know you'll have an advantage over your opponent.
Note! With the 06.07.2018 update, many weapons (assault rifle, SMG, Heirloom rifle, burst rifle, revolver) switched to hit scan mechanics. This means that the projectile will hit exactly where your reticule was at the moment of shot, regardless of the distance to the target.
