Should I complete Rage 1 before playing Rage 2?

The full-fledged continuation of Rage was released in May 2019, i.e. after almost 8 year break. What's more, the first part of Rage is not available on PS4 and Xbox One.

Knowledge of the first installment of the series is not required before playing the continuation, although familiarity with Rage may have its advantages. Rage 2 tells a new story that is not closely related to the events of the first installment. But knowing first installment can help you better understand the post-apocalyptic world. In Rage 2 there are also characters (e.g. Loosum Hagar) and groups (e.g. Authority), with whom you have already dealt in the first installment of the series. Knowing these characters or factions can make it easier for you to find yourself in the game world and understand the rules that govern it.
